Sustainable Westford and the Westford Farmers Market are producing an art exhibit at Westford's Parish Center for the Arts for the month of September, 2011. We are inviting all New England artists - amateur or professional - to enter works of art which celebrate farms and farm life. This could be anything from photographs of farm fields and fences to watercolors of fresh local produce to collages of farm architecture.
For children, we will hold a special juried art contest with prizes given for three age groups: ages 5-7, 8-12, and young adult (13-16). Prizes will be announced at the gallery opening on Friday, September 16 at 7pm.
There are a few guidelines:
- Art must be able to hang on the wall
- Art must be framed or have finished edges and be ready to hang (secure wire or hook on the back)
- All art by adult artists must be for sale.
- All ages may apply
- For children's art, there will be a $5 entrance fee for the children's farm art contest. Entrance fee will support Sustainable Westford's mission.
All adult submissions will be reviewed by a panel before receiving acceptance for the show. To submit your work, please e-mail your name, address and contact information along with photographs of your work to info@creativityunhinged.com or send pictures to Emily Piper at 5A Gould Rd. Westford, MA 01886 with descriptions of the size and medium used. If you would like your photographs returned, please include a SASE. All submissions are due by August 28, 2011.
The show will be hung in early September 2011 with gallery viewings every Sunday afternoon in September from noon until 2pm and during the Westford Farmers Market on Tuesdays. The gallery reception will be Friday, September 16 at 7pm.
Proceeds from purchased works will be distributed as follows:
- PCA receives 20%
- Sustainable Westford receives 20%
- The artist receives 60%
